Green roofs as a criteria for sustainability in design of health centers

Abstract

Objective: to determine and promote the adoption of green roofs in health centers as a sustainable strategy and to highlight the benefits they can bring in terms of health, wellbeing, energy efficiency and water management. Materials and methods: it is a quantitative approach, non-experimental and descriptive level, the study population consists of the inhabitants of the city of Huacho, of which 382 people were sampled, The instrument used was a survey. Results: The results indicated that the majority of respondents consider green roofs to be a sustainable roofing technology that can help solve environmental problems by promoting energy savings, acoustic insulation, air quality improvement, and stress reduction, thereby improving mental health. Conclusions: This study demonstrated that green roofs in healthcare centers offer various environmental benefits, such as energy savings and efficient water management. However, technical and financial considerations must be taken into account for their successful implementation, positioning this study as a valuable opportunity to improve the quality of life in healthcare centers and promote a more sustainable approach to healthcare.
