Abstract

Objective: Currently, peach production (Prunus persica L.) is one of the crops with the greatest demand for agroexport in Peru, which is why its production must be increased, with the in vitro micropropagation technique being one of the main ones. alternatives for its massification. objective to standardize an efficient method for the in vitro micropropagation of Prunus persica (Durazno) var. Red huayco from axillary buds. Methods: Young 2-month-old plants were used and pre-treated with fungicides and bactericides for disinfection. The axillary buds were introduced into MS medium vertically and incubated in bioclimatic chambers at 22°C and 24°C for 2 weeks each. Result: 75.1% of in vitro seedlings were obtained free of contamination and suitable for acclimatization under greenhouse conditions, 16.6% of contamination by bacteria and 8.3% of contamination by fungi were obtained. Conclusion: It is concluded that using the MS medium was an optimal medium for in vitro multiplication and using antioxidants for the oxidation of the axillary buds.
