Abstract

Objective. - The study aimed to describe the socioeconomic factors that influenced women's labor activity during the COVID-19 pandemic, with a gender focus in the San Martín-Southern Cone de Huacho Housing Association, Peru 2020. Material and Methods: A basic, descriptive and quantitative study was carried out. With a census sample of 30 women in the San Martín-Southern Cone de Huacho Housing Association. A questionnaire was developed that addressed sociodemographic variables, job profile and economic situation. The validation of the questionnaire was carried out with a panel of experts, and descriptive statistical methods were used. Results: It was found that 40.00% of the women are natives of Huacho, and the majority are in the age group of 35 to 50 years. 76.70% live in households with one family. A diversity of occupational roles was observed, with a significant percentage of independent and employed women. The majority of workers have low incomes, and the majority of the working conditions are hired or temporary. Conclusions: Income distribution and employment status reflect challenges in terms of financial stability and quality of life. It highlights the importance of considering the family, educational, health and work context to address the needs and challenges of women in this specific context, especially in times of crisis such as the pandemic. Despite the socioeconomic challenges, women's resilience and adaptability in the face of adverse situations is evident.
