Effect of organic sources on yield and anthocyanin content in purple corn (Zea mays L.) under drip irrigation in Lima, Peru

Objectives: To determine the effect of organic fertilizers on yield and anthocyanin content of purple corn under drip irrigation in Lima, Peru. Methodology: The agronomic trial was conducted in La Molina, Lima, Peru. A randomized complete block design was used with seven treatments of organic sources which were T1: 10 t ha -1 of worm humus, T2: 10 t ha humic substance, T4: 10 t ha -1 worm humus + 1 t ha -1 of humic substance, T3: 1 t ha -1 of humic substance, T6: N-P-K, T7: Control the Duncan test (α=0.05) was used for the comparison of means. The variables evaluated were: plant height, ear height, number of ears, ear length, ear diameter, ear yield and anthocyanin content. Results: The results show that the highest ear yields were found with the humic substance (5.9 t ha -1 of compost, T5: 10 t ha -1 compost + 1 t ha -1 ), on the other hand the highest plant height and main ear were with mineral fertilization (2.5 m, 1.7 m), worm humus (2.26 m, 1.55 m) and compost added with the humic substance (2.24 m, 1.63 m), in addition, greater length, diameter and number of cob with the humic substance were observed. Higher anthocyanin content was evidenced using the combination of compost and humic substance in the same way as when using conventional fertilizers.
