Abstract

Objective: To determine the degree of adaptation of three improved potato varieties and for the application of acetylsalicylic acid in Huari, Ancash. Methodology: The trial was carried out in the locality of Cajay (Huari) at 3 000 m.a.s.l., under the experimental design of randomized complete blocks with 4 replications, using the improved varieties Canchan, Unica and Bicentenaria, the latter with and without application of acetylsalicylic acid (0.4 mM L-1); previously, climatic data were taken from the area and soil analysis was carried out. Twelve productive and agronomic variables were evaluated and treatments were compared using the Scott-Knott test. Results: The Bicentenaria variety statistically surpassed (p<0.05) Canchan and Unica varieties in tuber yield and other productive characteristics, showing better adaptation to these environmental conditions. The application of acetylsalicylic acid (0.4 mM) in the Bicentennial variety had no response (p>0.05) for adaptation or productivity improvement. Conclusion: The variety best adapted to the environmental conditions of Huari was Bicentenaria, significantly outperforming the improved varieties Canchan and Unica, and no response was found in this variety to the exogenous application of acetylsalicylic acid.
