MOLECULAR IDENTIFICATION OF Antiteuchus tripterus, HOST PLANTS AND NATURAL ENEMY Phanuropsis semiflaviventris IN PANAMA

Abstract

Objective: to provide information related to the host plants of the stink bug A. tripterus and its natural enemy Phanuropsis semiflaviventris (Hymenoptera: Scelionidae) in Panama. Methodology: the plants evaluated were in the backyard of a home garden, where the Cajanus Cajan (L.) Huth and Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp crops were found. (Fabaceae). 68 plants were monitored; 43 C. Cajan, in flower, with green and dry guavas; and 25 V. unguiculata in the same development stage conditions, where the biological interaction of A. tripterus and its parasitoid P. semiflaviventris was observed. 60 litters were collected, corresponding to approximately 1,740 A. tripterus eggs. 35 litters of A. tripterus associated with the culture of C. Cajan and 25 litters of A. tripterus associated with the culture of V. unguiculata were collected. This biological material was transported to the G. B. Fairchild Invertebrate Museum of the University of Panama for processing and to continue observing the A. tripterus eggs. The litters were kept in insect hatching cages to keep the leaves where the female bugs were found, maintaining their maternal care of the eggs, in adequate conditions for the eggs to complete their development. Anova analysis, Tukey's multiple comparison tests, correlation between the hatching of parasitoids and stink bugs were performed; Also, regressions were carried out between the host plants and the sampling period; Scatter diagrams were made to establish interspecific relationships between nymphs (bug)-parasitoids (wasps), nymph-unhatched eggs and nymph-eggs per litter. Also, an analysis was carried out between the hatching relationship and the sampling time.
